Patios are built on a compacted base engineered for sandy coastal ground, with drainage sized for tropical downpours. Surfaces are chosen for the coast: porcelain and travertine that stay cooler underfoot and shrug off salt and humidity, and concrete pavers that can be lifted and reset rather than replaced. Footings are engineered for the Grand Strand's 130-to-150 mph design wind zones, hardware is specified in marine-grade stainless, and finishes are selected for sustained salt exposure. That is how a finished space stays intentional and properly resolved for decades, not seasons.
